California Puts on a Good Race

I actually enjoyed the Pepsi 500 at Auto Club Speedway more than I thought I would.

I understand attendance was down once again, but we've come to expect that at pretty much every track these days. California has come under particular criticism over the last few years for failing to provide sell out crowds, but I've always been of the opinion that NASCAR somewhat shoots itself in the foot by putting tracks in huge markets. Let's face it, unless you're a pretty diehard NASCAR fan to begin with,… Continue

Looks like a rainy day at Dover

Or so reports Jeff Gluck and some of my other Twitter friends.

We've had so much rain here in the south east over the last week or so you'd think that NASCAR was racing in Atlanta!

One of the best quotes I've heard this week was from Brett Griffin, spotter for Elliot Sadler's number 19 Dodge: "The best way to make a small fortune in NASCAR is to start off with a large fortune."

Lots of football this weekend as well of course. The South Carolina Gamecocks beat Ole Miss on Thursday night, and t… Continue

    It's Chase Time!

Ten races to go for all the marbles. Maybe your driver didn't get in. Mine didn't, but I'm still watching, because there's a lot of exciting racing left.

It all kicks off today at Loudon, New Hampshire, and there's a lot on the line for both the Chase drivers and those who find themselves outside of the Chase.

Drivers are auditioning for new rides next season, or trying to attract sponsors for next year. Even for those who have no chance of winning a championship this year, there's still a lot… Continue

    Sports, so much Sports!

Especially racing. Great win last night by Kevin Harvick in the NNS series. Great win by Mike Skinner last night in Iowa in the Truck series.

The college football day was mostly dominated by mismatches, which is not unusual for week 1 in the college season, but Oklahoma lost a big one, as did the Virginia Tech Hokies. As part of an informal wager on Twitter, ESPN's Marty Smith will have to attempt to climb a greased pole in the infield at Talladega. I hope ESPN does the right thing and televise… Continue
